Weird and Wacky Scholarships

For most of you this article will probably fun reading, but for a few of  you wacky people, they could mean easy scholarship money. There are a lot of weird scholarships available, and the more I research this area, the more wacky scholarships I find. As with any scholarship search, find out what scholarships you qualify for, and if they are easy to apply for, it makes good sense to apply.   • Left Handed Scholarships. Here is one minority that it pays to belong to. The Frederick and Mary F. Buckley Scholarship program was established in 1979 and awards $1000 to a left  handed student who attends Junita College in Pennsylvania.
  • Scholarship for Overweight New England High School Seniors. This scholarship is sponsored by the New England Chapter of the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance and awards two $500 prizes to New England seniors who are overweight and have a GPA of 2.5 or more.
  • Scholarship for Tall People. The Tall Clubs International offers a $1000 scholarship to men over 6’2″ and woman over 5’10″. You do need to write an essay titled “What Being Tall Means to Me”.
  • Scholarship for Short People. The Little People of America sponsors a scholar for it’s members. To qualify you need to be 4’10″ or less in height.
  • Scholarship for People Named Zolp. If you qualify this is an awesome award which consists of full tuition at Loyola University for 4 years. You must have the last name of Zolp on your birth certificate and be a Catholic.
  • Duck Brand Duct Tape Stuck at Prom Contest. This is a $6000 scholarship that goes to the couple wearing interesting outfits created from duct tape. There is a second prize of $4000 and third prize of $2000.
  • Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship. If you are a golf caddie and have excellent grades and financial need, your could qualify for a full 4 year scholarship at one of 14 universities across the nation.
  • All-American Apple Pie Recipe Contest. Sponsored by the Culinary Institute of America, the winner with the best recipe wins $25,000 for college. Second place receives $15,000 and third place gets $10,000.
  • Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest. If you know how to call ducks, this could be just right for you. First place is $1,500 with $500 to second, $300 to third, and $200 to the fourth place finisher.
  • Patrick Kerr Skateboard Scholarship. This one goes to skateboarders who are seniors and have a GPA of 2.5 or more. There is one $5,000 scholarship and three $1,000 scholarships. see also : 5 Biggest Scholarships that Can Be Awarded to Students
